Castelbottaccio is an Italian town of 264 inhabitants in the province of Campobasso, in Molise. It rises on the hills to the left of the Biferno River, 617 meters above sea level.

The real name of the town - as evidenced by a document from the year 1148 - is "Calcabuttaccio" (rock surrounded by a moat full of water), called by Galanti "Calcabuzca" (1780)
It began to write "Castelbottaccio" starting from a document dated February 1767.
The emblem of the municipality includes a barrel surmounted by the castle of the "civitas" granted with official recognition, with coat of arms, from the Kingdom of the Savoy in 1930.
Some festivals and events in Castelbottaccio
March 19: Feast of St. Joseph, the population of the town meets to eat together, with three people who take care of the recreation of the "Holy Family". Traditional dishes and typical desserts are consumed.
June 25: we remember the fall of a thunderbolt (June 25, 1888) which parted the chest and two fingers of the child of the statue of the Virgin of Grace.
July 30: solemnity of Our Lady of Grace.
July 31: San Oto (patronal feast).
22-23 August: solemnity of Santa Giusta, with mass in the rural chapel and subsequent torchlight procession towards the village.
November 25: St. Catherine with a fair through the streets of the village.
